Complete 2026 Guide to eBay Seller Fees
Under eBay Managed Payments, sellers no longer pay separate PayPal transaction fees. Instead, eBay charges a consolidated Final Value Fee (FVF) that covers payment processing, buyer checkout security, and marketplace listing operations.
1. eBay Final Value Fee (FVF) Rates
The standard eBay Final Value Fee consists of a variable percentage based on the category plus a fixed fee of $0.40 per order ($0.30 if the total sale amount is $10.00 or less):
- Most Categories (No Store / Starter): 13.25% on the total amount of the sale up to $7,500, plus $0.40 per order.
- Most Categories (Basic Store or Higher): Discounted to 12.35% plus $0.40 per order.
- Books, DVDs & Music: 14.95% plus $0.40 per order.
- Consumer Electronics & Computers: 9.35% up to $2,500, and 2.35% for any portion exceeding $2,500.
- Guitars & Musical Gear: 6.35% up to $7,500, and 2.35% for any portion over $7,500.
- Athletic Shoes / Sneakers ($150+): Reduced to 8.0% flat with $0 per-order fee.
- Heavy Commercial Equipment: 3.0% up to $15,000.
2. What is Included in the “Total Amount of Sale”?
A crucial detail many sellers overlook: eBay calculates the Final Value Fee percentage on the total gross amount paid by the buyer, which includes:
- The item purchase price.
- The shipping charge billed to the buyer.
- Any applicable state or regional sales tax collected and remitted by eBay.
3. Promoted Listings Standard Ad Fees
Promoted Listings Standard allows sellers to boost visibility in eBay search results on a pure pay-per-sale basis. You choose an ad rate (from 2% to 15%+). If a buyer clicks your promoted ad and purchases within 30 days, eBay deducts that percentage from the total sale amount.
